Rev. Dr. Józef Glemp, a graduate of the Faculty of Both Laws of the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, as well as the Study of Church Administration at the Congregation of the Council and the Rotary Study, has been performing absorbing functions in the Secretariat of the Primate of Poland since 1967. A year later, he also started teaching at the Faculty of Canon Law of the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw, where he conducted classes in Roman law and canon law of marriage, which he continued until 1979, when he was appointed Bishop of Warmia by John Paul II.
Students received from him a huge didactic aid – The Lexiculum of Roman law script (Warsaw 1974).
He conducted research work, the fruit of which is over 50 publications that enriched the canonical literature. Among these texts, the following thematic trends can be discerned: the local and particular Church, marriage, ecclesiastical judiciary, the history of canon law in Poland, and in particular biographies. These works are characterized by originality in the approach to the issues raised (in particular in the field of matrimonial law), clarity of arguments and the use of appropriate methods.
