The media activity of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Primate of Poland was active in three important periods in the recent history of Poland, and at the same time in the recent history of the Catholic Church. It was the time of the interwar period, the development of the political system of the People’s Republic of Poland, as well as the events of the Second Vatican Council. In each of these periods, the Church tried to effectively use the role of the media in promoting its mission in society. Particularly interesting in the discussed topic is the second chronologically and at the same time the longest of the mentioned periods, i.e. the time of the struggle of the Catholic Church with the anti-religious message of the communist authorities in Poland. On many occasions, Primate Wyszyński manifested in the media the importance of the idea of freedom, opposing its limitation by the people’s authorities.
