In the third commandment of the Decalogue there is a strong exhortation from Yahweh, the God of the Covenant: “Remember,” emphasizing personal commitment to its fulfllment, but also some responsibility for others. Tis applies especially to the Sabbath rest, which was to be lived as the Lord’s Day. It was to be a gif to the Lord, in a spirit of gratitude for His Covenant and various gifs. In the New Covenant, the disciples of Jesus Christ also hear of the need for remembrance, of the invitation — on this day — to the Lord’s Table. Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński ofen repeats the encouragement to build a community experience of Sunday Mass. Tis event should be marked by the joy of the Lord and all those gathered. Te disciples continually receive an invitation to this Feast of the Lamb. Te Eucharist was formed as the central point of the Sunday devotion, as well as family devotion, having many forms and planes. It can be called “prayer” in certain sense. Also, you cannot miss the Sunday as a day of rest. All these signs of the Lord’s Day are united by the joy of community. When presenting the teaching, and especially the practical indications of the Primate of Poland, one must at the same time remember that it is typical of his time.
