The second commandment of the Decalogue points out to man’s relationship with God and His name. Responsibility for the name uttered in words is an expression of respect and recognition, and at the same time, knowledge of God. His name is to be hallowed, to be blessed. Primate Stefan Wyszyński also drew attention to the names given at baptism, especially the patron saints. It is a certain symbol and sign of a given person, requiring respect. The name „Christian” was also important, especially in view of the secularization process at that time, referring particularly to the young generation. The Millennium celebrations were also a public form of manifestation of this commandment. He also reminded us of the sins against this commandment, including blasphemy and perjury. In the teaching of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski, the social dimension, also on the ecclesial and patriotic plane, of the second commandment of the Decalogue, is very much present.
