Abstract

Te aim of this publication was to show the place, role and signifcance of forgiving love in the life and activity of Blessed Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski. In pursuing this objective, it proved important to answer three fundamental questions: 1. where and how did the Primate perfect himself in love and forgiveness?; 2. where is the genesis of his forgiving love?; 3. what are the reasons for his forgiving love and in what sense is to be understood, his assertion that „forgiveness is the key to one’s own prison cell”? An attempt to fnd answers to these questions not only made it possible to fathom what forgiving love is and what constitutes its essence, but it also brought closer and illustrated how it manifested itself in the rich life and pastoral activity of Primate Wyszynski, who was not compelled to hatred by any harm or persecution he suffered. Te publication, showing forgiving love as a special value and a hallmark of Christians, drew attention to the need to work on forgiveness, understood as a process involving cognition, will and action.
