The thought of being a priest had been maturing in him since almost his earliest years. A significant stage in this maturation was starting his studies at the Pius X High School in Włocławek, which was also a lower seminary, at the age of sixteen. In this scientifically vibrant environment at that time, he intellectually matured for the priesthood by participating in lectures given by the faculty, most of whom had studied Western philosophical and theological disciplines, while spiritually shaping himself under the influence of significant spiritual directors. His seminary formation coincided with important historical world and national events, dynamic economic and social changes, and at the same time, the search for adequate forms of church activity. Against this backdrop, the already exceptional personality of Stefan Wyszyński emerges, subtly guided by Providence towards his future role as the Primate of the Millennium.
