Studia Gdańskie recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools may support the preparation of scholarly manuscripts. However, authors, reviewers, and editors remain fully responsible for maintaining the integrity, originality, confidentiality, and scientific quality of the publication process.
AI systems cannot assume responsibility for scholarly work and therefore cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
Authors may use AI-assisted tools exclusively to support the preparation of their manuscripts, for example by improving language, grammar, readability, or formatting.

Whenever AI tools have made a substantial contribution to the preparation of a manuscript, their use must be disclosed in an appropriate statement within the manuscript.
AI systems, including generative AI applications such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar tools, must not be listed as authors because they cannot accept responsibility for the published work or approve the final version of the manuscript.
Authors should verify all AI-generated content carefully, as AI systems may generate inaccurate, fabricated, incomplete, or biased information.
The use of generative AI tools to create, alter, or manipulate images, figures, photographs, or graphical abstracts intended as scientific evidence is not permitted.
Minor technical adjustments, such as changes in brightness, contrast, or colour balance, are acceptable provided that they do not alter or misrepresent the original content.
Where AI-assisted image generation or analysis forms part of the research methodology itself, its use must be fully described in the Methods section, including the name and version of the software employed.
Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents.
Reviewers must not upload manuscripts, review reports, or any confidential editorial materials to publicly available AI systems or language models.
AI tools should not be used to prepare scientific evaluations or recommendations, since peer review requires independent scholarly judgement and critical assessment by qualified experts.
Editors are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts throughout the editorial process.
Editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or editorial correspondence to publicly available AI systems.
AI tools may be used only for limited editorial support, such as language correction or administrative assistance, provided that manuscript confidentiality and applicable data protection regulations are fully respected.
Editorial decisions are made exclusively by the editorial team and cannot be delegated to AI systems.
The journal encourages transparent and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Whenever AI tools have significantly assisted in preparing a manuscript, authors should disclose this use in a dedicated statement, specifying the name of the tool and describing its role in manuscript preparation.
