Abstract

Deepening religious knowledge and faith in God is the primary objective of religious education in the confessional and catechetical approach that operates in Poland. However, it is often believed that these goals are not adequately met. This article attempts to examine this issue from the perspective of students. To do so, an analysis of the opinions of high school students was conducted, obtained during nationwide quantitative research. The students themselves assessed whether and to what extent their participation in religious classes positively influences their religious knowledge and faith. Based on the analysis of these opinions, educational and pastoral conclusions are drawn, and an attempt is made to find solutions to the identified challenges.
