Abstract

In the face of the ongoing discussion in Poland about St. John Paul II, it is worth looking at the attitudes of young people towards the Polish Pope and draw conclusions which will have a positive impact on current pastoral activity.

The article includes an analysis of the results of research conducted among high school and technical high school students located in Mazovian Voivodeship, within the borders of the Drohiczyn diocese in January and February 2023. The research undertakes such issues as  recognition of st. John Paul II as a personal authority and the question of the knowledge and applicability of his teaching in the lives of the respondents. One of the problems covered by the study is also the popularization of online materials negatively affecting the person of the Polish Pope and their perception among young people. Thus, this text is an important supplement to the state of knowledge on the subject, which has not been properly developed by the scientific community so far.

The conducted analysis allows us to draw conclusions, which may help to improve the quality of catechesis, and will give a new character to youth ministry in Poland.
