Abstract

The aim of the article is a prosodic analysis of the film etude „A Łęczyca’s story about Boruta our master” (1983). This film is an interesting example of the mediatization of folk culture in the Polish People's Republic. It’s a remediation of the legends about the devil Boruta into a film genre (artistic documentary film). The author, referring to the communicative methodology, examines the film's voiceover and answers the question: how the sound phenomena of language (intonation, stress and pause) and the intensity of emotions affect the composition of meaning in the film. Prosody as a component of meaning turns out to be an important component in the process of mediatization, defined as remediation into audio and audiovisual genres.
