Freedom, next to truth, goodness and beauty, is one of the most important values in human life. The correct understanding of this reality is crucial for the upbringing of young people. The initial part of the article was devoted to considerations on various definitions of freedom. The second part describes research on the understanding of freedom among young people. For this purpose, a series of catechesis was conducted, which aimed to bring closer the Christian understanding of freedom. Both before and after the catechesis, more than a hundred young people completed a fifteen-question survey on various areas of freedom. The impact of catechism on the change in the perception of freedom is presented in this article.
