Abstract

The promotion and defence of human rights derives from respect for the personal dignity of the human person and the recognition of the religious dimension of the human person, which is deeply embedded in the very reality of the human person. In the perspective of applied theology, it should be emphasised that religious freedom, an inalienable requirement of the dignity of every human being, underlies all human rights and is therefore an indispensable factor for the well-being of the person and society as a whole, as well as for the personal fulfilment of everyone. In applied theology, it is assumed that the theory and practice of religious freedom are closely linked. Clarifying the role of exploration in applied theology therefore requires clarifying the relationship between theory and practice. This will be the starting point for describing the ‘wisdom’ approach of applied theology in terms of the world, man and faith, and then showing the exploratory approach to the problem of freedom in applied theology.
