Abstract

The article discusses the vision of Polish pastoral care between the world wars, adopted on 17-20 September 1928 in Gniezno during an extraordinary meeting of the Polish Bishops’ Conference. Referring to the state of pastoral care at the time, the bishops discussed the following pastoral areas: Catholic Action, student youth, the Catholic press, Church organisations, relations with the government, the formation of the clergy, and an increase in the religious awareness of the Catholics. Several pastoral strategies were proposed concerning charity projects and boosting the supply of parish libraries with religious books. The bishops also called for more frequent parish missions. The bridging of pastoral gaps due to the Partitions was a major issue discussed by the Polish bishops.
