Abstract

Suffering remains a great mystery of nature which human mind is not capable to understand. Any progress, any technique or medical equipment or even the most advanced machines are not able to eliminate pain or disaster from the world. They accompany human beings from the very beginning and they will still be with us until the end. Some people are afflicted by pain more often than the others. In Faustyna Kowalska’s life, who belonged to the most well-known contemporary world saints, existed the mystery of pain which changed her life and manifested the presence of Christ. This modest woman was chosen to promote God’s mercy to mankind. In the life of suffering nun essential role played theological virtues – faith, hope and love. In connection with the saint sacraments which strengthen her in her suffering let her enjoy the peace of her soul and fruit of trust in God. Diary of nun Faustyna is a heartbreaking record of spiritual flights and darkness which is a certificate of tough and indomitable faith. Above all, it is a proof of definite belief in the greatest God’s attribute – his incomprehensible and infinite mercy.
