Review process

All manuscripts submitted to Studia Gdańskie undergo a transparent, independent, and double-blind peer review process designed to ensure the highest standards of scholarly quality and research integrity.

1. Initial Editorial Assessment

Each submitted manuscript is initially assessed by the appropriate Section Editor, who verifies its relevance to the journal's scope and its compliance with the formal and academic requirements necessary for external review. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without being sent for peer review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers according to the principles of double-blind peer review. Throughout the review process, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential.

3. Selection of Reviewers

Reviewers are selected on the basis of their academic expertise and research achievements relevant to the subject of the submitted manuscript. They are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and to conduct their reviews objectively, confidentially, and in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.

4. Revisions

Authors are expected to address the reviewers' comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript. Depending on the extent of the revisions, the revised manuscript may be assessed by the editors or returned to the reviewers for an additional round of evaluation.

5. Editorial Decision

The final decision on acceptance for publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the reviewers' recommendations, the revised manuscript, and the journal's editorial standards.

6. Publication Ethics

The peer review process is conducted in accordance with the Studia Gdańskie Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and is based on the principles of transparency, confidentiality, impartiality, academic integrity, and good publishing practice.
