The author presents examples of early musical adaptations of „The
Magnificat”, which attest to the archetypical character of Polish
musical culture as well as to its great openness towards European
advances in the field of composition techniques. These examples also
reveal a theological approach to the musical matter, which is present
in particular works conceptualizing Virgin Mary and the Church’s
faith in a musical manner.
