Abstrakt

Artykuł analizuje ruch liturgiczny jako ruch społeczny, koncentrując się na działalności Virgila Michela OSB (1890–1938), pioniera amerykańskiego ruchu liturgicznego. Ruch ten, zapoczątkowany w XIX wieku, dążył do odnowy liturgii poprzez świadome i aktywne uczestnictwo wiernych w celebracji. Virgil Michel, działający w kontekście amerykańskiego kryzysu gospodarczego, dostrzegał w liturgii potencjał przemiany zarówno Kościoła, jak i społeczeństwa. Jego myśl opierała się na koncepcji Kościoła jako Mistycznego Ciała Chrystusa, podkreślając społeczny wymiar uczestnictwa w liturgii. Artykuł ukazuje, jak Michel łączył idee liturgiczne z reformami społecznymi, wpływając na integrację imigrantów, walkę z indywidualizmem i budowanie wspólnoty. Tekst podejmuje także refleksję nad współczesnym znaczeniem jego myśli, wskazując na konieczność dalszych badań nad relacją między liturgią a społeczną misją Kościoła.
