Abstract

This article formulates and justifies the definition of the Orthodox social ethos, which is an alternative to the diverse concepts of political theologies that are criticized in the theological environment. The development and justification of the definition of Orthodox social ethos, its location in the space of Orthodox doctrine, the resulting assignment of necessary axioms, as well as the preliminary characterization of the issues covered by it, will allow for a precise definition of its tasks, research space and appropriate methodology. The implementation of the goals indicated in the article will allow for a systematic presentation of the norms of the Church’s relationship with the world, as well as their further comparative analysis, taking into account the differences existing in the Orthodox environment, the social teaching of the Church developed in the Roman Catholic Church, as well as numerous concepts of political theology.
