Abstract

The aim of the presented article is to highlight the differences in the approach of European and American filmmakers regarding the use of conventional screenplay models in film production, with particular emphasis on industry practices. According to the author, the differing practices in this area stem from several key reasons, primarily cultural and social differences, which directly influence a different approach to the issue of film production financing. The article identifies developmental trends in European and American screenwriting, stemming on the one hand from existing globalization and technological processes, and on the other hand from centrifugal movements emerging in the film Industry. Conventional models used in film production are characterized, taking into account both discussed centers, thus selected films representative of the topic are discussed as examples. It is shown, that the American center dominates over the European one both in organizational terms and in terms of the level of professionalization. At the same time, attention is drawn to the acceleration of globalization processes in the film industry, which also affect the discussed centers. These changes are particularly visible in Europe, which consequently leads to the convergence of European and American screenwriting in certain aspects.
