Abstract

Video games often form various types of series, and this characteristic is richly reflected in the sphere of names, which has largely not yet been scientifically studied. The goals of this article are: 1) to examine the phenomenon of seriality in video games; 2) to identify methods of titling (proper names) and naming (common names) video games that refer to various variants of cyclicality; 3) to demonstrate how seriality in video games and the names associated with it differ from seriality in other types of cultural works, such as films or books. Illustrative material was obtained from media specialized in electronic entertainment – popular websites and traditional magazines.
