- Submitted manuscripts are subject to an initial evaluation by the Editorial Board. The assessment focuses on the compatibility of the text with the journal’s scope and on its formal aspects. Manuscripts may be rejected without external review if they fall outside the journal’s thematic profile, lack scientific character, or demonstrate significant substantive or cognitive shortcomings.
- Before a manuscript is sent to reviewers, the Editorial Board verifies it for potential plagiarism or self-plagiarism using the Uniform Anti-Plagiarism System (JSA) or iThenticate: Plagiarism Detection Software.
- Kultura Media Teologia follows the double-blind review policy, under which neither the author nor the reviewers are aware of each other’s identities.
- Each article is evaluated by two external reviewers (for papers published in a foreign language, at least one reviewer must be affiliated with a foreign institution located in a country different from that of the author). Reviewers:
- are not members of the Editorial Board, the Scientific Council, the author’s home institution, or the institution where the Editor-in-Chief is affiliated;
- are competent in the relevant academic field, hold at least a doctoral degree, and possess a significant scholarly record;
- have an established reputation for academic integrity;
- have no conflict of interest with the author, where a conflict of interest is defined as any direct personal relationship (family ties up to the second degree, legal relationship, marriage), professional subordination, or direct academic cooperation within the two years preceding the preparation of the review.
- Reviewers are obliged to maintain confidentiality throughout the review process and not to use any information obtained during review before publication.
- Each review is prepared using a review form provided by the Editorial Board and must conclude with a clear recommendation: to accept the article for publication, to request revisions, or to reject the article.
- The reviewer’s comments are forwarded to the author. Rational and justified conclusions presented in the review are binding for the author, who is obliged to incorporate the reviewers’ recommendations and revise the manuscript accordingly. Reviewers have the right to reassess the revised version of the text if they explicitly requested it in their initial review. If the author disagrees with the reviewer’s conclusions, they may present their position to the Editorial Board in the form of a polemical note.
- The final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, based on their own assessment of the manuscript, the opinions of the Editorial Board, the reviewers’ conclusions (and any author’s polemical response), and the final version of the text submitted by the author. If necessary, the Editor-in-Chief may consult the Scientific Council.
- The names of reviewers of individual articles are not disclosed. The list of collaborating reviewers is published once a year at the end of the last issue of the calendar year (in the PDF version).
Review Form
A template of the editable review form is available in the appropriate section of the Kultura Media Teologia website. Familiarizing oneself with this document enables authors to better understand the peer review process.
“Ghostwriting” Safeguard and Academic Integrity
The Editorial Board of Kultura Media Teologia reminds authors that “ghostwriting” and “guest authorship” constitute serious forms of academic misconduct. Any identified cases of such practices, as well as violations of research ethics, will be documented and publicly disclosed, including notification of relevant entities (e.g., the author’s institution, academic societies, or editorial associations).
To prevent such situations, the Editorial Board kindly requests authors to disclose the actual contribution of each person involved in the preparation of the publication (including affiliation and details on who is responsible for the concept, assumptions, methods, etc.). In the case of co-authored works, it is therefore required to precisely define the individual contribution of each author and to submit the appropriate authorship declaration.
The corresponding author bears primary responsibility for the submitted manuscript.
