Abstract

The article describes modifications introduced to the Polish law on the judicial system with the amendment dated 12.07.2017. In the paper the most important aspects of the aforementioned novelization are analyzed, as well as compared to the precedent legal framework. Three categories of the modifications were subject to the analysis: the structure of court system, question of the supervision of the courts and judges, and the functioning
of the courts. In each of those categories the legislator suggests important changes, such as allocating the cases to the judges by drawing, or modifications of the courts’ presidents’ and vice-presidents’ appointment and recall procedure. The author describes the amended regulations and tries to predict their possible effects on the Polish judicial system.
