In the era of innovative and technological changes public administration is facing the great challenge posed by modern and contemporary society. The aim of the article is to show the changes taking place in the public sector on the basis of newly introduced mechanisms. These mechanisms significantly affect the modification of relations and seek to promote the partnership approach of public administration toward citizens. One of them
is the mediation implemented into the administrative procedure which promotes an amicable settlement of disputable issues. The article claryfies if the newly introduced mechanism is indeed a revolutionary solution on the ground of already binding provisions of Administrative Procedure Code.
