Abstract

In connection with the rapid development of the press in the 19th century, in accordance with the recommendations of the Church, which called for the rejection of content that depraved and degraded religion, the idea of creating the so-called "good press" was born. Two figures stand out in the history of Polish Catholic publishing - Blessed Father Ignacy Kłopotowski and Saint Father Maksymilian Maria Kolbe. Both also share a similar social thought. Kłopotowski began his priestly path by serving the most needy, but from the very first years of his priesthood he published religious brochures and prayer books, the task of which was also to educate in patriotism and social responsibility and culture. The great work that ensured the continuation of his work is the religious congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Loreto. Kolbe founded and published "Rycerz Niepokalanej" and many other magazines on religious and social topics. He was a tireless missionary and builder of the monastery in Niepokalanów. The persistent journalistic and publishing work of both priests was based on the foundation of the Church's teaching. Their fidelity to principles and heroic personality traits led to the glory of the altars.
