Missionary work in Rwanda in the context of contemporary social changes

Dorota Rajkowska

Abstract

Contemporary missionary work in Rwanda is set in the multicoloured context of the social, cultural and political situation of the country. The history of events since the first missions in 1900 are presented. The period of war based partly on ethnic differences that took place between 1990 and 1994 ended up in the brutal genocide. after these events, pastoral work in Rwanda has been centred around forgiveness and reconciliation for over 25 years. Many Rwandans still do not experience the fullness of Christian life because of unhealed wounds, hidden deep in the heart and memory. today the various new forms of missionary work are needed in the context of contemporary social changes.
