Satirist, politician or leader of the nation? Volodomyr Zelensky's media image in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in Polish opinion weekly magazines

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the media image of President Volodomyr Zelensky in three opinion-forming weeklies, periodicals of different political provenance: "Newsweek Polska", "Polityka" and "Sieci". The analysis of the extracted source material was conducted based on the following categorization key: positioning of the publication - allowing to determine the position of the material in the weekly with particular emphasis on the covers and sections of the magazine; tone of the publication: neutral, negative, approving, ambivalent theme of the illustration: a single politician, several politicians, graphics, drawing, caricature; tone of the illustration: informative, persuasive. The analysis of the source material was conducted taking into account the dependent variables, i.e. the presidential campaign, the first dozen or so months of his term in office and the beginning of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
