Abstract

This article addresses the discourse on the climate crisis within selected high-altitude organizations. The official websites of three large and important mountaineering organizations, considered potential institutional opinion leaders, were examined: the Austrian Österreichischer Alpenverein, the British Alpine Club, and the Polish Mountaineering Association. The analysis revealed a high representation of content related to the climate crisis on the Austrian and British websites. Both organizations employed a discursive strategy of sustainable development, reinforced by rhematization and thematizing content, thus aligning themselves with the dominant global discourse generated and sustained by the United Nations, the European Union, and mainstream media.
