Article deals with the topic of RES development in the residential buildings sector in the context of EU climate targets. One of areas which so far has been not sufficiently used to address this challenge is popularization of investments performed within the framework of Energy Performance Contract (EPC) by Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), as proposed by the EU legislator. The article aims to determine function which the EPC contracts have – and which should have – within the Polish legal system in order to function as a tool of improving energy efficiency and promoting RES.
