Abstract

Sweden is a country with a much larger area than Poland, but with a much lower population. Organizing health care in such an area is a big challenge, especially in the face of the multicultural nature of Swedish society and the growing problem of the aging Swedish population. When organizing their health care system, like other Scandinavian countries, the Swedes focus on decentralization and delegation of tasks to municipalities and regions. Sweden spends over 10% of GDP on health care and the vast majority of services are financed from public funds. Health prevention plays a key role. The Swedes have a small number of hospital beds and focus on outpatient services
