Abstract

The roots of pedagogical supervision reveal patterns that make it one of the key tools of education policy. Among other things, Plato’s concept of control over schools and Aristotle’s idea of exchange and rotation of civil servants have left their mark here. The concept of the school inspector, developed in the late Middle Ages, also proved to be an important stimulating factor. All these elements make it possible to better situate this issue in the legal and philosophical context of the modern state. A separate problem in the case of pedagogical supervision remains the influence of Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski and his pedagogical thought, which
decision-makers did not immediately assimilate.
