Abstract

The subject of the article is a general analysis of the market practice known as geoblocking in the context of including it among the barriers to building a digital single market in the European Union. As a relatively new regulation, it has broad development prospects that significantly affect the cross-border availability of e-commerce and electronic supplied services. A detailed analysis of official documents of the European Union institutions allows for a look at geo-blocking as a multifaceted phenomenon that relates to various areas of law. In addition, it allows for the assessment of the effects of the current regulation and the identification of opportunities and risks associated with its extension to other services.
