Abstract

The concept of justice has many meanings and can be understood in different ways. The subject of our interest is the understanding of justice on the pages of the Holy Scripture, especially the so-called surpass righteousness "than the scribes and Pharisees". In the Old Testament, justice appears as a basic attribute of God, and human justice is also mentioned. Jesus demands from his disciples that their righteousness will not be greater than that of the scribes and Pharisees (Mt 5:20) and explains what it should consist in. Disciples of Christ should strive for perfection and become children of the Father.
