Abstract

The aim of this article is to systematize new forms of reportage in the digital environment and to propose an operational definition of digital reportage, with particular emphasis on the category of multimodality. The study is based on a comparative analysis of classical Polish approaches to reportage in media genology and their confrontation with contemporary digital realizations. The applied methods include critical literature analysis and typologization, resulting in a tabular systematization of digital reportage variants. The findings indicate that digital reportage emerges as a borderline and transitional genre: while it preserves the core features of its classical identity (referentiality, factuality, and the factographic pact), it simultaneously reconstitutes itself through multimodality, modularity, and interactivity. The conclusions emphasize that digital reportage should be regarded as a neogenre, in which traditional generic features coexist with technological and interface innovations. The analysis constitutes part of broader research on digital genology and opens up perspectives for further studies on multimodality and the transformation of communication practices in new media.
