This article discusses the construction of a belief logic adequate to support the analysis of argumentations used in rational discourse, including legal discourse. R. Wójcicki’s definition of the concept of discourse is cited. The conditions that must be met for a discourse to be considered rational are presented, as well as the conditions met by legal discourse. The assumptions of Ngoc Duc Ho’s three-valued logic of beliefs are presented, as well as the LSB3H logic, which is a belief-based version of the system discussed. In addition to the belief functor CH , which refers to the phrase „based on the logic of Ho, the knowing subject is certain that …”,
a second belief functor, CK, is introduced. Due to the complementary semantic correlates of these functors, an attempt is made to combine them to obtain a belief functor appropriate for arguments conducted in rational discourse.
