The problem of addiction and its treatment has been a difficult phenomenon in a developing civilization for many years. Even though people are aware of the problem of abusing addictive substances that have a negative impact on the body, mental and social sphere, people reach for the above-mentioned substances. These issues and phenomena are dealt with on a daily basis by probation officers who supervise people addicted to alcohol. The aim of the article is to analyze literature and legal acts while referring to psychological aspects regarding the possibility of supervising alcohol-dependent people. The work uses a descriptive and theoretical-legal method. Based on the literature review, legal acts and statistics, it is concluded that supervision of alcohol-dependent persons is carried out in accordance with the court’s decision, and during their duration, applications are submitted to change treatment from outpatient to inpatient when the supervised person avoids fulfilling the court obligation.
