Abstract

The article represents an attempt to present social work as a professional, professional activity characterize. Social work can very briefly be described as a helping activity that is aimed at helping individuals or groups in difficult social situations. such activity certainly has a very long history behind it, but only since the end of the 19th century does social work work as a profession. This professional service is based on three basic elements. They are: professional knowledge, values ​​and specific intervention methods Moreover social work must be viewed as a pro-social, creative and educational activity. One of the most important concepts in social work is help for self-help.
