Abstract

Homily is one of the basic forms of catechesis. In the perspective of significant shortcomings in passing on the kerygma, both at RE classes or their absence in the parish, homily appears to be the only source of reaching out to adults. It is an important task, that homilists are faced with, and quite often neglect it, by not preparing properly for it, by not explaining the message in Biblical or Mystagogical context, proclaiming instead their own social or political views. This article presents the above mentioned suggesting certain ways that are supposed to uncover possibilities of a homily. It is also worth to mention that the article is written from a position of a listener of the Word of God, what along with the guidelines of expert homilists should be a valuable source of the change of approach to this form of catechesis.
