Abstract

The aim of this article is to present Body Identity Integrity Disorder (BIID) and the moral dilemmas associated with it. Its sections provide a characterisation of the disorder, an indication of the causes and possible forms of medical interventions. They are subjected to a moral evaluation in the light of the theological-moral foundations of medical interventions. Special attention is given to the amputation of a limb or limbs postulated by a significant group of patients and some members of the medical staff.
