Pedagogical Implications of Ignacy Domeyka’s Emigration Journeys – Documentary Reportage

Abstract

The aim of this article is to provide a contemporary reading of the tradition of masterful academic, didactic and social work represented in the activities of the most famous Pole in Chile, Professor Ignacy Domeyko. The emigration, political, scientific and identity mirages of this particular activity encompass the existential challenges faced by the aforementioned scholar in the 19th century. The discourse analysis carried out in the text includes documentary reportage in the form of recognition of the historical conditions of Domeyko's identity formation in the horizon of the key planes from the point of view of the pedagogy of the time in the form of scientific knowledge, upbringing, education, educational policy, values and norms.
