Abstract

The main purpose of this article was to find out the opinions of 300 parents of children up to the age of 16, living in Warsaw, on their children’s use of new technologies. The main
research questions were: – the extent of children’s/adolescents’ interest in new technologies, – to find out parents’ knowledge of cyber threats, – to find out about their declaration of safety in the use of new media by children and adolescents. Main results: The results of the diagnostic survey showed that the interest of children, including the youngest ones, in new technologies can be described as high. Parents of children who use new technologies will declaratively describe
their level of knowledge of children’s online risks as low or medium, and their interest in taking part in training on the risks to which their child is exposed online can be considered low.
