Abstract

The research presented in the text was aimed at establishing the mutual relationship between coping humor and the level of basic hope, as well as determining the diversity of these variables in terms of gender, age and the level of social adjustment of the studied youth. The study involved 476 people aged 13 to 18, including 195 pupils of Youth Educational Centres and 281 pupils of secondary schools. The project used the Basic Hope Questionnaire (BHI-R) and the Coping Humor Scale (CHS). Most of the hypotheses were confirmed in the research. It found that there is a positive correlation between humor coping and basic hope, and that gender, age, and level of social adjustment do not differentiate the variables analyzed. The research enriches the existing knowledge about the psychosocial functioning of adolescents, and the results obtained can be used in the design of preventive and resocialization interventions.
