Abstract

The article presents the person and work of Martin Rinkenberg, abbot of the monastery of Canons Regular of St Augustine in Żagań, who held this office in 1468-1489. He was one of the longest-serving abbots of the monastery. His term fell in a difficult period, marked by disputes between rulers and the Glogów War of Succession. These events had a great impact on the monastery in Żagań, especially on its economic situation and property. The article presents the abbot's attitude and position towards these events, depicts his difficult and controversial personality, and discusses his interests and passions.
