The subject of this article is an analysis of a manuscript written by Isaac Löpp about the Napoleonic times. It is an unusual account, as its author is most likely a Żuławy peasant, an inhabitant of the village of Cyganek (Tiegenhagen), and finally a Mennonite. The work is characterised by its chaotic nature. The contents are jumbled together and the author often returns to events already described. However, it should be emphasised that this source is of particular value in those parts where Löpp refers to his own observations and observations as well as to information taken from direct witnesses of events. Through it, we learn about the author's world view, which undoubtedly fits into the framework of the Prussian educational system.
