Abstract

The article discusses the perquisites and expensives books of the manor of Stanislaw Antoni Szczuka from 1700-1710. The above materials are a valuable source for the functioning of the noble manor and for the study of everyday life in the 18th century in the broadest sense.

The ledgers contain entries of individual, even minor income and expenses of the manor and its owners. They confirm and supplement the knowledge of income, family and court life, as well as activities and initiatives undertaken by Stanislaw Antoni Szczuka.

The precise determination of the destination of expenses and the source of income also brings closer the customs prevailing at the beginning of the 18th century, the occupations and equipment of the manors. Such information as recorded in the books of percepts and expensives would be difficult to find in other types of sources. As a result, they are a testimony to the everyday life of the time, relevant to research on the everyday life of the nobility in the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
