Piotr Maroszek’s book examines Hugo Kołłątaj through the lens of his clerical career, analyzing both his ecclesiastical duties and public activity. The author traces Kołłątaj’s life chronologically—from his path to priesthood, through managing benefices and parish administration in Krzyżanowice, to political engagement and church reforms—highlighting his role in Polish Enlightenment thought. Based on extensive archival and printed sources, the work portrays Kołłątaj as a complex figure, combining clerical service with significant public and political involvement.
