The Children’s “Death Exercise” in the Asceticism and Mysticism of Blessed Dorothy of Great Montau

Abstract

Blessed Dorothy of Great Montau (1347-1394) is one of the most outstanding ascetics and mystics of medieval and modern Europe. The subject of this article is the death's exercise, undertaken in the form of passive and active acts. The analysis of the phenomenon of this exercise during childhood, carried out on the basis of printed sources, leads to the determination of its: causes, course, essence and effects of these spiritual exercise, as well as to the formulating conclusions in the space of children's mysticism. The article also contains the other scientific postulates.
