Abstract

The article explores the problem of apokatastasis (ἀποκατάστασις πάντων) in the theology of Sergius Bulgakov from an anthropological perspective. Bulgakov interprets apokatastasis not as a speculative doctrine or a form of systematic universalism but as an eschatological hope of the Church rooted in the mystery of the Pascha. The study analyzes four major themes: the tragedy of freedom, the paschal horizon of hope, the relational character of freedom, and the ecclesial dimension of the prayer “for all and for everything.” The aim of the paper is to demonstrate that in Bulgakov’s thought apokatastasis possesses both an anthropological and a liturgical structure and that its foundation lies in the conviction of the ontological impossibility of an eternal dualism between good and evil, since “the last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1 Cor 15:26).
