The aim of this article is to present the bimonthly Misyjne Drogi (“Missionary Paths”) as a specialized medium of missionary communication within the Catholic Church in Poland. Misyjne Drogi is a Catholic bimonthly deeply rooted in the centuries-old tradition of ecclesial press and closely associated with the publishing activity of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The periodical has been published since 1983, following many years of effort undertaken in the socio-political context of the Polish People’s Republic, and remains one of the few journals devoted entirely to missionary issues. From its inception, its primary objective has been to present missionary activity as a constitutive dimension of the life and mission of the universal Church.
Over time, the thematic scope of the journal has expanded to include missiological, anthropological, and socio-religious reflection, as well as missionary reportage based on the direct experience of missionaries. In the years 2023–2025, Misyjne Drogi consistently addressed pressing issues affecting the Church and the contemporary world, including the Eucharist, family life, work, education, the persecution of Christians, war, social exclusion, and the role of women and lay people in the Church’s missionary endeavor. The graphic redesign introduced in 2023 gave the periodical the form of a modern opinion magazine without compromising its missionary identity.
The journal fulfills informative, formative, and evangelizing functions, shaping an awareness of the missionary responsibility of the entire People of God and encouraging concrete forms of spiritual and material engagement.
