Abstract

Young people staying in youth sociotherapy centers are at risk of social maladjusatment. The behaviour of young people is related to non-compliance with social rules and norms (Matusek, 2015). In addition, acording to research, these young people are often characterized by low self-esteem (Nowak, 2022), with may be caused by school or family experiences. In the Polish literature there is a lack of studies that wouls refer to the level of pressure in relations to self-esteem in this group of young people. The text presents the results of pilot studies on the level of self-esteem and resilience conducted with the participation of pupils admitted to the youth sociotherapy center. The presented data show that there is a positive corelation about the strength of relationship at the level of the statistical tendency between the level of self-esteem and the resilience of the pupils. A statistically significant correlation is drawn in particular in the area of self-esteem and the index of perseverance and determination in action, which is important in the concept of resilience. The article contains information that may provide guidance for educators working with young people in this type of institutions.
