Abstract

This article explores the psychosocial functioning of visually impaired seniors and the conditions affecting their access to written and spoken language. It emphasizes the potential of reminiscence bibliotherapy and active poetry therapy as components of educational and rehabilitative interventions. Visually impaired seniors—including those who are blind, have lost vision later in life, or are partially sighted in old age—form a heterogeneous group requiring specialized (typhlo-geragogical) support aimed at extending their active and independent living. Drawing on a descriptive-critical analysis of Polish and international literature, supported by the author's personal experience and observation, the article formulates both research and practical postulates within the field of typhlo-geragogy.
